New research from Expedia has just revealed some surprising benefits of going on holiday, including weight loss, better skin and a boost in confidence, the Daily Mail reports.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, 81 per cent stated that they felt better after having been away, with 46 per cent of those asked saying they felt more relaxed. Some 42 per cent reported feeling happier and 35 per cent said they felt less stressed.
Psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos, who assisted with the research, commented on the findings, saying: “One of the best things about holidays is that by coming out of your routine you don't have to worry about must-dos and can have new experiences on your terms. You're free to do as much or a little as you like, which in turn makes you feel more relaxed. This can help reduce the levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which when significantly elevated in the body can have a negative impact on organs such as the skin.”
Of course, holidaying is only stress-free if you know you’ve left your home locked up tight, with your belongings properly looked after. Cars are one item you should be extra careful with, which is why you should consider using a local car storage facility to ensure they’re safe until you return from your trip.
